It is a current occurrence for drivers to exit their vehicle and not engage the park brake. This mistake is not often reported unless damage or injury is incurred. A run-away vehicle can kill within seconds of becoming out of control. What Is Safe-T-Park? The Safe-T-Park Emergency Braking System is a preventative measure that reduces [1] the risk of run-away trucks and buses due to drivers failing to apply their park brake.Using several means of monitoring driver position and vehicle status, our unit can tell when an emergency situation has occurred and the vehicle is no longer under the control of the operator. When a driver exits their cabin/area without applying the park brake the vehicle can quickly gain momentum and cause death or serious injury not only to the operator but to people and property in the path of its destruction (see video below). Whether a bus or a truck, we can significantly reduce [2] the risk of a run away due to the driver failing to apply the park brake. Because these vehicles have different characteristics and functions, we use two different mechanisms of monitoring driver occupancy.
